Audits come in all shapes and sizes and auditing surgical services require knowledge of the standard coding rules and guidelines, the organization's compliance plan, payer-specific policies, and access to a plethora of coding and auditing resources and forms. This training will cover:

  • Audit types and how they are used to maintain compliance
  • Documentation requirements for major surgeries and minor procedures
  • Understanding the global surgical package
  • Proper reporting for modifiers 22, 51, 52, and 59
  • National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI) edits and how to use the NCCI Policy Manual in an audit
